Performs independent scientific research including complex laboratory testing, experiments and analysis following established protocols. Designs and develops research objectives for experimentation. Analyzes and evaluates findings. Assists in completion of grant applications and other regulatory documents. Writes technical summaries and co-authors articles for publication. Prepares and makes formal presentations of research results. Typically works under broad direction of principal investigator. High level of knowledge in scientific research processes, procedures, and objectives. Must possess ability to implement experiments in the subject discipline with the ability to trouble shoot issues. Good knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline required. Possesses ability to run complex pieces of equipment requiring advanced specialized training. Must possess knowledge of modern research methods, data collection and analysis. Must have significant experience in analyzing and evaluating data. General level of knowledge of project management, decision-making, and analytical skills. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a research group or team.


A Postdoctoral Fellowship is available with Dr. Emily Griese in the Population Health Group at Sanford Research. This position is funded through an NIH COBRE grant. Dr. Griese’s research is focused on identifying sources of risk and resilience over time, focusing specifically on early adolescence and peer relationships including bullying, prosocial behaviors, and mental health outcomes among rural and American Indian youth. We are seeking a talented and strongly self-motivated Ph.D. to join us in our study collaborating with four rural school districts across the region, collecting data and analyzing longitudinal findings. Specifically, skills in longitudinal data analysis and latent mixture modeling are preferred.

This position will be involved in data collection and advanced longitudinal analysis, developing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications, project reports, and presentations to academic and community audiences. Trainees will also gain experience in grantsmanship, as well as research design, planning, and execution. The appointment is for two years, with the second year contingent on satisfactory performance.


Requires a Valid Driver License. Requires a doctorate degree in a clinical, health, or life science field. Management experience is highly recommended. Selected from national applicant pool or known to be nationally competitive
