JOB SUMMARY

Operates mammography equipment and performs various mammography-related examinations to produce radiograph images for clinical screening and diagnostic purposes.

Ensures accurate body positioning and provides mammograms to women under direct supervision. Implements radiation safety standards and relevant policies into imaging practices. Processes and evaluates the technical quality of images. Delivers care and support services to clients before, during, and after mammogram procedures (e.g. explaining procedures, answering inquires, etc.).

Possesses a positive attitude, compassion, and an acceptance of diversity. Maintains records and updates history associated with mammography. Educates women the importance of mammography in preventing breast cancer. Demonstrates knowledge and an understanding of anatomy, pathology, physiology, and medical terminology. Maintains continuing education credits as necessary.

Sanford Rural Health Network Facility sites may expand job responsibilities based on the needs of the facility, to include, but not limited to: on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays. Perform diagnostic radiology procedures. Perform basic diagnostic radiology tasks and aware of general radiology protocols. May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Participates in establishing best practices for prevention of infection and disease.;Monitors stock levels of medical equipment and restocks or orders as needed.;Maintains the quality of radiology services for radiation protection and patient safety.;Listens and responds to safety inquiries from the patient and/or family.;Guides patients in scheduling appointments and laboratory tests according to established processes and policies.;Generates high quality mammography exams adhering to requests by medical practitioners.;Follows up with patients after mammographic imaging services and response to their inquiries.;Follows pre-established patient safety guidelines.;Describes basic processes, procedures, and services of mammographic imaging.;Communicates imaging results with radiologists (and/or patients), using professional judgment.;Performs routine disinfection and sterilization activities on medical instruments, devices, and equipment.;

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

Position is full-time, 80 hours per pay period. Various shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Joint

Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) is requires.

A thorough understanding of mammography techniques and procedures is preferred.

Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. Certified or obtain ARRT certification

in Mammography within one year of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
