Provides an opportunity to learn daily and contribute to treatments of the future. Enthusiasm for learning required, along with participation in educating patients, physicians, nurses and other personnel about the research process. Must be able to function well as a part of an integrated team. Will work closely with rare disease patient advocacy organizations to create registry questionnaires, collect data, and disseminate information to researchers and clinicians.
Organize complex components of the CoRDS Registry study, including the coordination of study-required testing and procedures, as well as data capture for a variety of conditions and symptoms.
Conduct interviews to assess subject ability and willingness to follow and complete study procedures. Review questionnaires completed by subjects. Ensure appropriate specimen collection, batching and shipping as required.
Review inclusion/exclusion criteria to assure subject eligibility. Review study protocol, informed consent form and follow-up procedures with potential study subjects.
Document and maintain all study-related procedures, processes and events by planning and design of new forms/source document tools to use in protocol implementation. Document protocol deviations and exemptions. Obtain and review original source documents as needed.
Record accurate and timely data onto case report forms. Maintain source documentation for all case report entries, as applicable. Key in data for electronic submission, if applicable. Correct and edit case report form entries as appropriate. Resolve data queries.
Occasional local travel between sites and student supervision may be required.
Participates in clinical research activities according to study protocols. Follows standard operating procedures for the preparation, undertaking and closure of clinical research. Monitors progress continuously and adjusts tactics for handling situations on a case by case basis. Identifies available resources and support systems for troubleshooting. Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties. Participates in documenting data, ideas, players, stakeholders, and processes. Determines severity of crisis and initiates appropriate response actions. Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with each team member. Proceeds without seeking unnecessary permission. Maintains sense of commitment to success, personal achievement and satisfaction. Applies an assigned technique for critical thinking in a decision-making process.
This individual will be responsible for a decent amount of data entry, and so will need to have some comfortability operating computers and using multiple systems at the same time. This position will require the individual to build new questionnaires in Microsoft Word and also in our registry platform software. Interpersonal skills are key, and this individual should be able to effectively communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and represent CoRDS and the organization on a national/international level.
Bachelor's degree in health sciences related field required.
