JOB SUMMARY

Come work in a state of the art echo lab at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls! You will be joining a lab of 25 Cardiac Sonographers who service a tri-state area which includes the main campus of Sanford USD Medical Center along with multiple satellite facilities. Our sonographers work with 10 Adult Cardiologists, 3 Pediatric Cardiologists, 3 Cardiovascular Surgeons and 7 Cardiology Fellows. Our Structural Heart Program at Sanford continues to grow and currently includes TAVR’s, MitraClips, Watchman and ASD/PFO closures. We are an accredited lab with the IAC in Adult Transthoracic, Transesophageal and Stress Echo and in Pediatric Transthoracic, Transesophageal and Fetal Echocardiography. Sonographers cover 1 to 2 days per month of weekday call, weekend call every 5th weekend and rotate holiday call coverage. There are opportunities to join various committees within our department. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Observe screen during scan to ensure that image produced is satisfactory for diagnostic purposes, making adjustments to equipment as required. Observe and care for patients throughout examinations to ensure their safety and comfort. Maintain stock and supplies, preparing supplies for special examinations. Clean, check, and maintain sonographic equipment, submitting maintenance requests or performing minor repairs as necessary. Select appropriate equipment settings and adjust patient positions to obtain the best sites and angles. Provide sonogram and oral or written summary of technical findings to physician for use in medical diagnosis. Operate ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of the motion, shape, and composition of blood, organs, tissues, or bodily masses, such as fluid accumulations.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

Full-time, 64 hours per pay period.

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate from an accredited two-year Cardiac Ultrasound Program or a minimum of one year equivalent work experience or

an allied health certificate/diploma preferred.

American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or registry eligible is required within 6 - 12 months of hire. Unique situations may be reviewed.

For employees who provide outreach mobile services, maintenance of a valid drivers license and good driving record is required. This may include passenger on flights and occasional overnight stays at assigned sites. Employees are held to the Sanford category driver's license policy and medical guidelines when applicable for job duties.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
