Job Summary

Collaborates with operational and executive leadership ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies to include, but not limited to: Department of Health (DOH), Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Conditions of Participation, and standards of The Joint Commission (TJC). Works with leadership to organize, assist, and coordinate planning and implementation of systematic, organization-wide approaches to improving outcomes. Primary focus is hospitals, critical access hospitals and rural health clinics in the Sanford South Network. The Accreditation Specialist works with staff, evaluating care, to ensure regulatory compliance (tracers) and provides oversight to performance improvement components and activities. Evaluates patient safety systems ensuring safe reliable care. Promotes systems designed to reduce the opportunity for human failure in order to achieve a goal of zero harm. Understands and supports an organizational culture of safety. Participates in robust process improvement, utilizing a systematic approach to change management, focused on reducing patient safety and regulatory risk. Responsible for data and project management, analytical reasoning, interpreting and evaluation of complex information, identifying patterns, and evaluating the attainment of results. Supports process change from education through sustainability. Collaborates with all levels of leadership to communicate needs and remove barriers for staff. Guides regulatory perspective to committees as applicable. Requires a self-motivated individual who values patient and staff safety as the top organizational priority. Knowledge and/or an interest in safe systems and High Reliability Organizations necessary. Periodic overnight travel is required.

Department Details

Monday-Friday 8hr days. No call.

Occasional overnight travel required.

Qualifications

Graduate from an American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) or National League for Nursing (NLN) accredited college of nursing. Master's Degree in nursing or a health related field preferred.

Current Registered Nurse (RN) License is required or multi-state licensure privileges. Certified Joint Commission Professional (CJCP) preferred or must obtain within four years of date of hire. Valid Driver's License required. Must maintain good driving record.

Two years of experience as front-line staff with an interest in patient safety preferred.

Process Improvement

Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.

Quality Management

Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
