Performs tasks as delegated and indicated on the care plan for Home Health client/family during a specified work period. The Aide will understand the basic elements of body functioning. Understands the physical and emotional changes including those which occur in the death and dying process. Knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Must have good interpersonal skills, be courteous and caring. Must know medical terminology, organizational policies and procedures. Requires ability to do detailed work correctly, function under and handle stress. Must be able to work with growth and development needs of all client and patient population.
To complete delegated functions of patient care in the home as assigned by a registered nurse. Duties may include bathing, personal cares, and light housekeeping tasks. Hours variable depending on patient needs, but are primarily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend and evening hours.
Minnesota Certified Nursing Assistant License required with additional home health aide training. Valid driver's license required. High school graduate or high school equivalency diploma preferred. State approved nursing assistant course of at least 75 hours classroom and 15 hours HHA training, or satisfactory competency evaluation. One year nursing assistant experience preferred.
