JOB SUMMARY

Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Applicant will work within the Clinical Research Department. Desk will be located at Scandia Hotel. Applicant will work with Regulatory, Clinical Research Specialist, and Project Management staff on clinical research projects. Applicant will get an introduction to clinical research work. Applicant will receive an overview of the rules and regulations governing clinical research as well as an overview of the compliance/regulatory process. Application will receive training in good clinical practice (GCP) and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidance as well as FDA guidance. Applicant will be exposed to internal and external institutional review board (IRB) processes and procedures and multiple study types which include: drug and device trials, federally funded research, pharmaceutical research and investigator initiated (Sanford's own) research. Applicant will receive an overview of clinical research specialist/project manager job activities. Applicant will participate in retrospective chart review including study start up, protocol writing, study design, data collection, and manuscript preparation. Applicant will participate in database creation and maintenance. Ideal candidate has strong interest in research and attention to detail. Scientific background preferred but not required. The intern must commit to the hours scheduled during the 12 week internship.

Work collaboratively with organization leadership, enhancing knowledge and skills and improving the delivery of quality healthcare. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. Attend training and development opportunities, learning about various processes and functions within the organization.

Collaborates with departmental associates and management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
