Job Summary

The Fixed Wing Flight Instructor is a licensed fixed wing pilot who is assigned and oriented to Sanford Air Transport. The pilot is responsible for flying fixed wing flight missions requested by Sanford. Fixed wing pilots comply with applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Demonstrate extensive pilot experience. Directly responsible for all operations pertaining to the safe efficient conduct of the flight from initial dispatch until termination of the flight.

Good working knowledge of the company Operations Manual, Federal Aviation Regulations, Operations Specifications, Aircraft Flight Manual, and any other requirements pertinent to specific flights. Demonstrate interdisciplinary skills when working with team members. Effective critical thinking skills to problem solve and immediately respond to changing environments. All pilots will share on-call and vacation coverage shifts.

The Fixed Wing Flight Instructor is responsible for overall flight proficiency of all pilots assigned to Sanford Air Transport. Will also be responsible for conducting the training program and maintaining a training file on each pilot trained. Will conduct annual and semi-annual ground and flight training and comply with applicable FAA regulations.

Pilots must maintain a weight of 240 pounds or less when fully dressed in uniform. May be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call.


Associates Degree or at least four years of aviation experience preferred.

Minimum of 3,000 flight hours. Flight training experience as a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument (CFII), Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) is preferred.

Possess a current Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license with Multi-Engine Land. Possess a current second class medical certificate.
