Must be accepted into the LPN program. Commit to working 2 years full time as an LPN after graduation. Must maintain a GPA that meets program requirements and show forward progression through the program of study. Grades must be submitted on a semester basis. Must sign a contract before payments are processed. Must commit to participating in Sanford Check-Ins (email, phone, or in person) during program of study.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. Ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients. Documents a thorough medical history from patient. Contributes to the assessment of patients and administers medications or treatments as ordered. Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed. Counseling patients and family members, under the direction of a registered nurse, on prevention and treatment plans. The LPN demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.

The LPN Sponsorship is financial assistance to support tuition and other expenses while you progress through your schools LPN program. Upon graduation, Sanford and the sponsored student will partner for a full time employment commitment at Sanford Health as an LPN in an area of need for two years. Current students are eligible to apply. This sponsorship can be used in conjunction with other financial aid. Ambulatory LPN duties include but are not limited to: • Focused patient assessments • Medication administration and vaccinations • Direct patient care • Collaboration within an interprofessional team.
Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
If position requires IV therapy/management skills, the following is required in North Dakota: graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
