Job Schedule: Full Time
Hours Per Shift: 10 hr
The Scribe accompanies the physician into the patient exam room in order to transcribe a history, physical exam, patient instructions, disposition, and document accurately the physician's encounter with the patient and others present. Has basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, surgery, diagnostic tests, pharmacology and the various medical specialties. Displays professional appearance and conduct while promoting an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation. Maintain and demonstrate an understanding of the team approach to patient care and documentation. Knowledge of organizational policies, and computer applications. Proficiently navigates the electronic medical record. Excellent time management, organization and communication skills (written and verbal) are required. Demonstrates an ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with governing regulations.
Identify mistakes in reports and check with doctors to obtain the correct information. Review and edit transcribed reports or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology. Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records. Strives to complete assignments according to established quality measures. Demonstrates open, friendly, accepting, and supportive behaviors with team members. Takes personal ownership of and strives to meet assigned accountability expectations.
This position is full-time, 80 hours every pay period, with varying 10-hour shifts.
High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of a medical terminology course or one year medical terminology experience in a clinical setting preferred.
