Job Schedule: Full Time
Hours Per Shift: 8 hr
Provides service to patients in acute, short and long term care settings by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. Obtains a thorough medical history from patient and performs a physical exam to determine patient's needs. Analyzes information collected from patient and establishes a diagnosis. Consults with physician if necessary. Formulates a plan for treatment of the patient and prescribes medicine if necessary in order to aid recovery and manage pain. Makes necessary healthcare referrals. Counsels patients and family members on prevention and treatment plan for health issues. May participate in clinical research studies.
Requires current licensure to practice as an APRN in state of practice. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration is required for prescriptive privileges. Must be certified by one of these national certifying bodies: 1. American Academy of Nurse Practitioners 2. American Nurses Credentialing Center 3. National Certification Corporation for OB/GYN and Neonatal Nursing Specialties 4. National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses 5. Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation 6. Critical Care Certification Corporation. Must have completed a program of study designed to prepare an RN for advanced practice and which meets Board of Nursing standards for practice as an APRN. A master's degree in nursing is required if practicing in ND and if initially licensed after Aug 1, 1995, otherwise preferred. Level of experience may vary depending on Service Area. Must have extensive advanced knowledge of nursing principles, practices and techniques.
