The registered nurse is responsible to implement the nursing process within Sanford Health and the continuum of care. The nursing process is utilized to assess, diagnose, establish a plan with outcome criteria, intervene, evaluate, and document human responses to actual or potential health problems. This practice includes dependent, interdependent and independent functions.
• Caring for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. • Utilizing the professional nursing process to provide individualized nursing care to patients • May delegate to licensed and unlicensed personnel within their defined scope of practice • Effective communication skills to collaborate, negotiate and resolve conflicts, situations, and/or issues with peers, inter-professional colleagues, patients and families. • Strong clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills to analyze data and appropriately respond to changing situations. • Functioning within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the state specific Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules. • The Sanford Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation for nursing care delivery.
Requires current licensure as a Registered Nurse in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position. Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications (BLS, ACLS) and when expected to achieve. Specialty certifications requirement PCCN preferred. Must have graduated from an accredited school or college of nursing. Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred. Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements. Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as a RN (or LPN) at another facility.
