JOB SUMMARY

Carries out a variety of healthcare development opportunities for Sanford and holds a leadership role in the Sanford Foundation as well as board oversight. Key responsibilities in development administration, donor recognition, annual fund, major gift and special event coordination.

Maintains a key role in the overall coordination of annual giving fundraising campaigns. Responsible for directing and coordinating all annual giving initiatives within Sanford Foundation. Oversees support staff and volunteers in the production of special events and campaigns. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Responsibilities include writing for donor communication (gift acknowledgments, proposals, gift solicitation, etc.) making personal contact and solicitation of individual and corporate donors/prospects and leading specific fundraising campaigns.

Fulfills supervisory roles including hiring, training, team integration, and task assignments for direct reports. Represents entire region as foundation representative and serves as a liaison to local leadership. Exemplifies an entrepreneurial spirit to identify and implement development opportunities and be able to function and lead as part of an integrated team. Has self-initiating skills and desires. Knowledgeable of development strategies and skills pertinent to making personal solicitations. Comfortable with public speaking in front of groups and on an individual basis. Well-organized and able to work well with interruptions and stress. Has flexibility and adaptability skills to accommodate changing situations and workloads. Able to handle multiple tasks and projects to completion and possess a strong sense of customer service. Comfortable forming and maintaining relationships with the hospital staff. Develops and administers budget. Comfortable speaking to/with media on a regular basis. Develops stewardship plans.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Describes the roles and responsibilities of the board of directors and senior executives. Uses internal and external network of leaderships or experts to help achieve organizational and client goals. Involves people in decision-making for delegation, encouraging them to take accountability. Oversees a team collaboration to produce positive business results. Creates a team environment of accountability and commitment for reaching project goals. Easily copes with day-to-day frustrations, adversities and uncertainties. Presents at public speaking engagements such as professional groups, conferences, and media. Reconciles multiple project progress reports with department budgets. Supervises the completion of organizational and personal learning objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or six years equivalent work experience.

Minimum of five years experience in non-profit work is required.

Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification designation preferred.
