Responsible for and provides for the overall management of the assigned service area patients in concert with Manager/Executive Partner and interacts with health system departments, medical staff and patient/families. Demonstration of excellence in practice through a full role function as a practitioner, educator, consultant, leader and researcher. Responsible to implement the nursing process within Sanford and the continuum of care. The nursing process is utilized to assess, diagnose, establish a plan with outcome criteria, intervene, evaluate, and document human responses to actual or potential health problems. This practice includes dependent, interdependent and independent functions. Assists leadership in the overall operation of the department which includes, but is not limited to: interviewing for new hires, counseling and disciplining as needed, overseeing orientation and continuing education needs and in the performance review process of employees. Expected to demonstrate leadership to employees, serving as a role model, and encouraging vision and change projects. Expected to assist in data monitoring, reports and improvements. Quality management will be demonstrated by assuring delivery of safe patient care through ensuring supplies and equipment are readily available for each specialized area and procedure. Expected to ensure department meets all regulatory requirements. Expected to serve and/or chair departmental/organization committees and task forces. May be asked to assist with other projects or work assignments as needed by organization, department or leadership.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Currently licensed with the applicable State Nursing Board and/or possess multistate licensure privileges as required by position. Certification in nursing specialty is strongly preferred. Maintains required department specific competencies and certifications (i.e. - ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP, etc.). Functions within legal RN scope of practice. Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable. Bachelor's Degree in nursing required or completion of Bachelor's in Nursing within 18 months of hire.
