JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for overseeing all the point of care testing activities. Required to keep up to date on all regulatory requirements in regards to point of care testing. Work with self discipline, good judgment, and considerable independence while following established standards of practice. Overall will demonstrate technical competency and will consult with the laboratory leadership when necessary. Recognize responsibilities of other laboratory and health care personnel and interact with respect for their jobs and patient care. Provide leadership in the education and training of new employees, students, and other health care professionals, and the public. May involve working with patients of all age groups.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Be in a leadership role for the laboratory when the Laboratory Supervisor is unavailable or off-site

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be registered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or registry of equal status. New graduates must pursue the registry exam at the earliest date following employment and registration must be obtained within one-year of date of hire Graduate of an approved School of Laboratory Science - MLS or MT. Must have at least a Baccalaureate Degree in an appropriate discipline. At least two years Clinical Laboratory experience required
