Provides service to patients in acute, short and long term care settings by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. Obtains a thorough medical history from patient and performs a physical exam to determine patient's needs. Analyzes information collected from patient and establishes a diagnosis. Consults with physician if necessary. Formulates a plan for treatment of the patient and prescribes medicine if necessary in order to aid recovery and manage pain. Makes necessary healthcare referrals. Counsels patients and family members on prevention and treatment plan for health issues. May participate in clinical research studies.
Position includes weekday/daytime clinic and shared Emergency Department coverage with 2 other APP's during weekdays. One weeknight of ED call and one weekend every 12 weeks.
The APRN CNP must maintain current RN and APRN CNP licensures in the state of practice. The APRN CNP must maintain current RN and/or APRN CNP licenses according to their practice in other states and be subject to the states' legal constraints and regulations. Must work within the legal scope of practice for any license held. APRN CNPs are required to pass a certification examination as stipulated by the Board of Nursing and recognized nationally by the specialtyΓÇÖs professional organization. Must obtain and maintain appointment at their respective Sanford Facility. Must obtain and maintain approval of applicable scope of practice. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/BLS) certification required. May be required to have a DEA registration. The APRN CNP is required to have graduate level education (Master's, DNP, or Ph.D.) from an accredited or approved nursing educational program.
