Provides supervisory leadership for the Cancer Registry operations for a designated location in Sanford. Areas of responsibility include development and maintenance of a computerized cancer-related data collection system that meets the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer standards, other applicable federal and state standards and recommended best practices. Supervise staff, managing ongoing analysis and reporting of cancer-related data from the Cancer Registry. Supervisors lead staff in an efficient and effective manner working within nationally recognized guidelines and practices and Sanford policies, procedures and protocols. Responsible for leading the day-to-day operational flow of work and adjusting staffing to volumes and priorities. Provides leadership and technical expertise to employees in areas of responsibility. Leads the work that drives attainment of Cancer Registry and Cancer Program goals. Monitors and reports on productivity and quality standards. Provides for orientation, training regular performance evaluations and continuing education opportunities for employees within area of responsibility. Develops positive professional working relationships. Interview, hires and disciplines employees. Advises leadership on staffing, budget considerations, service excellence and employee satisfaction issues.Oversees workflow and work improvement processes within team environments and brings forward ideas to improve workflows and protocols, manages project timelines and team workloads; adjusting as needed. Reports up-to-date project status to management and Cancer Committee regularly. Uses analytical skill to resolve technical and functional application issues. Serves as a role model for staff in regard to professionalism, attitude, knowledge, demeanor and execution of duties. Regularly uses critical thinking skills, problem solving and decision making skills in the course of work.Skillful and flexible at managing change. Understands a systems approach to problem solving. Has project management experience. Comfortable presenting and training staff members and teams. Good customer service skills are essential. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Well organized with the ability to direct and motivate staff. Ability to teach others and monitor compliance to established standards. Ability to work in a team environment. Willingness and ability to make decisions and be accountable for same. Elevates issues and keeps leadership informed. Compassion and an understanding nature. Ability to facilitate and manage staff working remotely.Individual will work extensively with protected health information and is required to oversee the adherence to HIPAA privacy and security regulations and policies.
Cancer Registrar certification. Associates degree is required which must include two semesters of Anatomy and Physiology college-level coursework. Minimum of two years of experience as a Cancer Registrar. Must have a thorough understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Must possess proven leadership skills. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Hours are somewhat flexible.
