JOBSUMMARY

Assists in performing laboratory research activities and other assigned tasks; aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies. Maintains a safe and effective working environment. Assists senior lab technicians in collecting, preparing and processing specimens; readies specimens for dispensation to clients and exercises great care to ensure the quality of specimen testing results. Helps order, receive and inspect raw materials and equipment. Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment and ensures a safe and professional environment. Registers and verifies the eligibility of clients. Enters laboratory results and ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs phlebotomy to collect specimens from pediatric and adult patients, Demonstrates ability to process biological specimens and other substances. Strong customer service skills required for working with patients and assisting staff, providers, patients and clients in person and over the phone. Assists technologists in daily activities as assigned. Trains new staff as assigned. Investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves problems and situations with minimal assistance. Seeks additional duties and responsibilities to contribute to service quality and productivity. Maintains a safe and effective working environment.

Sanford FM Clinic Lab float. Monday-Friday, 10 hour shifts (7:00am-5:30pm). One randomly scheduled weekday off. No weekends or holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduate or equivalent with at least one year experience using computers, basic office equipment, medical and/or laboratory terminology. Some post-secondary education (medical field) preferred.
