JOB SUMMARY

Performs basic patient care services and supports the activities of the patient care unit. Multi-skilled to provide expanded bedside services. Knowledge of and utilize appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients of all age groups. Contribute to development of policies and procedures and standards for the technical aspects. Participate in the orientation and education of dialysis personnel. Document and communicate on patient information as it relates to the system and equipment to meet the requirements of regulatory agencies.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

If working in North Dakota must be on the ND UAP/Technician Registry through the North Dakota Board of Nursing at the time employment begins. Whether working in North Dakota or Minnesota, must hold current certification as a Hemodialysis Technician from the National Nephrology Certification Commission (NNCC), the Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT), or other approved certifying agency. If not certified upon hire, must become so within 18 months of the date of hire. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. One year experience in a health care environment is preferred. Knowledge of various equipment and its general use, medical terminology and computer skills would be helpful. Must be able to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Knowledge of medical terminology and medical equipment/supplies preferred. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide. CPR Certification is required.
