Assesses patients and designs occupational therapy treatments. Help patients to develop, maintain and recover their ability to perform tasks in living and working environments. Testing and evaluating the physical and mental abilities of patients; developing realistic rehabilitation goals and administering appropriate occupational therapy programs. Modifying work and living environments based on patient assessments; teaching patients how to use adaptive equipment. Liaising with other professionals (e.g. doctors, social workers, etc.) to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations and develop individual intervention plans. Recording patients' activities and progress and writing relevant reports; managing caseloads, prioritizing needs and completing administrative tasks (e.g. patient and budgetary records).

Current North Dakota state licensure and national certification through the NBCOT is required. Incumbents not licensed with the state of ND must obtain a temporary permit prior to date of hire. New graduates must obtain a temporary permit prior to date of hire and complete the national certification and state licensure processes. CPR certification within 6 weeks of employment and re-certification as required. Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy required from an approved and accredited school. Minimum of one year clinical experience preferred.
