Hours Per Shift: 8 hr
Manages nursing staff and nursing activities for an assigned department, including patient care, record-keeping, budgeting, and personnel issues. Maintains a current nursing license in the state of practice. Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level. Schedules nursing staff to specific shifts, taking into account past utilization trends. Measures employee performance. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members. Audits inventory levels and orders and restocks items at the end of each shift. Monitors patient care areas and other facilities for cleanliness and readiness. Provides nursing care to patients on an as needed basis. May administer oxygen, CPR, IVs, or medications as prescribed by a physician.
Full-time, 80 hours every two weeks. Will oversee the general surgery in the Med/Surg/Ortho department.
Requires current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state, or states, of practice; Certification in area of specialty preferred. Master's degree in Nursing preferred. Must have at least three years demonstrated managerial experience. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential. Must be a clinical expert in knowledge and skill. Must have excellent and effective communication skills to counsel, support, educate, and facilitate conflict resolution. Must have strong critical thinking and analytical skills to assist employees with patient clinical situations or manage budgets. Must be self-directed, self motivated, autonomous, yet work interdependently with others. Must be able to negotiate, collaborate, and delegate effectively.
